The rapid growth of our County 4-H program necessitated the need to expand our County Fairgrounds.  Therefore, in 2017 Bonneville County purchased 50 acres of land, directly south of the Sandy Downs Rodeo Grounds to build our new County Fairgrounds.  Since that time, we have been able to build the 15,000 sq. foot Education Center, the 12,000 sq. foot Melaleuca 4-H Event Center and a 12,000 sq. foot livestock barn.  In addition, we refurbished a building that came with the property and it is now the 15,000 sq. foot Farm Bureau 4-H Livestock Center.  We have also been able to build the Bank of Commerce 4-H Horse Arenas and the entire infrastructure to support the fairgrounds.  All of this success was made possible due to the generous support from nearly 100 different donors.  Some donations have been small, and others very large but they have all been equally important for the project.  The County has committed to match all funds, which our Fair Board can raise from donations and grants, so we are earnestly seeking help from the public as we continue our buildout. 

Our first County Fair was held at the new fairgrounds in August of 2019 with thousands of community members enjoying the fair.  The new facility is already reserved throughout the year by the Master Gardeners and local clubs and organizations including the Bonneville Youth Soccer League, Bonneville County Cattlemen’s, Farm Bureau and many others.  We are excited about the success of this project, but we have more to accomplish.  We now need to build another livestock barn, horse stalling facilities, a small animal barn, a children’s playground and more. Your support for this project will not only help increase the number of youth who participate in 4-H, it will also give us the opportunity to put your name in front of thousands of visitors in various ways.
